THE STORY BEHIND CLARA
She knew what she wanted to teach. She needed a website that could help her share it.
Clara was inspired by my friend Lee, an English language educator preparing to build the next version of her teaching business.
She needed more than a basic website that listed a few services and provided a way to get in touch. She wanted room to introduce her teaching approach, help potential students understand how they could work with her, and begin writing a blog where she could share her knowledge more widely.
Like many experienced educators, Lee already had the ideas. The challenge was turning those ideas into a clear, professional online presence without having to determine the structure and design of an entire website herself.
That became the foundation for Clara: a website created to help an educator teach, connect, and grow.

Clara is a complete multi-page Squarespace website designed to bring an educator’s work together in one cohesive place.
The website provides space to introduce the person behind the business, explain services and programs, establish credibility, answer potential clients’ questions, and make taking the next step feel simple.
Because blogging was an important part of Lee’s vision, Clara also includes a complete blog experience—not merely a page where posts accumulate. Featured content, organized categories, individual articles, and intentional paths into the rest of the website allow an educator’s ideas to become part of how people discover and trust the business.
The result is a website that can support the services being offered now while leaving room for new content, programs, and opportunities to be added later.
ONE TEMPLATE. AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT PERSONALITY.
A strong website structure shouldn’t require every business to look the same.
To demonstrate how easily Clara could adapt, I transformed the original design into a bright, vibrant website for a piano teacher.
The structure remained the same, but the colors, fonts, imagery, and visual details were changed to reflect a completely different educator and audience. What felt warm and sophisticated for an English teacher became joyful, energetic, and inviting for children, teenagers, and their families.
Both versions provide the same strategic foundation. Yet each one feels like it belongs to the person and business it was designed to represent.
That is what a thoughtfully created template should do: make the website-building process easier without making the finished website feel generic.
